Anansi, the Keeper, the Teacher, the Weaver - the god of all stories - West African and Caribbean folklore that originated in the Ashanti Tribe of Ghana - Anansi (or Aunt Nancy) a Spider who often appears as an old man.In the Caribbean, Anansi is often celebrated as a symbol of slave resistance and survival.
This painting was just completed after being started in 2013, then being abandoned and lost for a number of years. I recently found it again in a basement in Baltimore and revived the story
